From August 25th to the 27th, Avalon Expo is taking over Mile One Centre in downtown St. John’s! Along with an all-star roster of guests, including Colin Baker of Dr. Who and Linda Ballantyne and Katie Griffin of Sailor Moon, there will be a plethora of events and vendors for people of all ages and interests!

Amidst all that, as you may have already guessed, will Gold & Steel! From Friday to Sunday, author Christopher Walsh will be in attendance with copies of As Fierce as Steel for you to get your hands on. Nearby will be Engen Books, who will be bringing both Fantasy From the Rock and Sci-Fi From the Rock, both of which include Gold & Steel short stories.

But wait, there’s more! For you literary buffs, Engen Books will be hosting a series of panels throughout the weekend including the ever-popular Dysfunctional Panel and a tag team debate pitting Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings against Stephen King’s Dark Tower. Among those panels will be ‘Female Characters in Sci-fi and Fantasy’, hosted by Christopher Walsh and editor Erin Vance! Chris and Erin will be talking shop on the ever changing role of women in the sci-fi and fantasy genres and who knows, there may even be a guest or two joining them for the open chat.
