August 4th, 2020 – TWoG Press Release

August 4th, 2020

On April 1st of 2016, volume one of The Gold & Steel Saga was released to the world, and since then, you, our amazing and supporting readers, have been asking when volume two would be released. Since then, it’s been a wild ride for me. I managed to find and reconnect with the woman of my dreams. We got engaged, and we built a house, and made a home. She moved halfway across the country, and we made that adventure of a drive together. We started new jobs, adopted two cats (along with Kyra’s cat), and if fates allow it, we’ll be getting married in a little over a year.

There was loss too. Just before publication of As Fierce as Steel, I lost my grandfather on my mother’s side. Between then and now, I also lost my grandmother on my father’s side. Two of my uncles, both of whom were my father’s brothers also passed away too soon. To say there’s been ups and downs would be an understatement.

Things were no less turbulent in the world around us, either. 2019 and 2020 have been rough, and stressful years in world events. I’m not going to get into all of that, but I will say that I’ve been feeling the stress of keeping up with it.

However, between everything that life was coming up with for Kyra and I, the writing went on. I found time when I could, and on many occasions, there simply was no time. There was months when I wrote not a single page, and then there was a stretch of three months where I managed to pen over three hundred pages. Amidst it all, I cobbled together my short stories into a single collection and released it as Legends & Tales. I even joined a local publishing group, and subsequently parted ways with them, as well, to return to being an independent author. I met so many other writers and artists across nearly every genre and medium you can think of. Many of those I now consider friends. Spending time with them over a chat or a coffee or a bite to eat have been highlight moments of many of my convention appearances.

There were moments during the writing process of the second Gold & Steel book where I lost all confidence in myself, though. I almost walked away from it on more than one occasion and for a multitude of reasons. Kyra has been my rock during those moments, and I can’t even begin to thank her. I should also thank you, the readers, though. It seems like when I’ve been at my worst, I’ve come across a reader out in the wild who’s asked with eagerness and excitement when book two will be ready. Or they’ve left an excited comment on a social media post when I’ve updated you all on the progress of the book. Either way, it’s been for you that I’ve kept going, and volume II of The Gold & Steel Saga has finally been brought to completion.

I have to thank Rebecca at Atrtink Covers once again for her amazing work on that cover. Christina Hamlyn returned for this volume as well, expertly handling the overall layout of the cover. In the editing department, Kyra, and one of my closest friends, Stacey Smith, stepped up to the plate in a major way and their work in editing this book to completion cannot be understated. I also sought out some beta readers this time around, and Catherine, Nathan, and Stephanie all answered the call and did an excellent job in their roles too. I couldn’t have done this without that team. I’m in awe of their abilities.

At 807 pages and 320k+ words of material, The Worth of Gold is finally ready for you, the readers and it will officially go on sale at midnight on Saturday, August 8th, 2020.

To celebrate the release of The Worth of Gold, we’ve got a deal to offer as well.

Remember these?

We’ve still got a few! So here’s the deal. You buy/pre-order a paperback or hardcover copy of The Worth of Gold, buy either a The Worth of Gold sweater or t-shirt with your order, and we’ll throw in a free paperback copy of either As Fierce as Steel or Legends & Tales from our current stock. If you haven’t read Legends & Tales, or want to gift someone a copy of As Fierce as Steel, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. This deal will only last as long as supplies do, so take advantage now while you can!

The shirts and hoodies run from sizes small to extra large, and the prices (in Canadian dollars) are as follows:

T-shirt = $20
Hoodie = $40

The prices for The Worth of Gold will be as follows:

Paperback = $25
Hardcover = $35

That means for as low as $45, you could walk away with two books and an awesome t-shirt, or for $75, you could have a cozy hoodie, a hardcover book, and another paperback. Still a bargain at that price.

We will also be launching The Worth of Gold in eBook form exclusively to Amazon, and you can even pre-order it here starting today.

To order, you can email us at thegoldandsteelsaga”at”gmail.com (replace the “at” with the @ symbol) with a list of the items you want, and we will be in touch to complete the order.

Alternatively, we have a handy form that you can reach here that you can fill out. That same email address from above will be in contact once the form is filled out so as to complete the order.

In terms of shipping, we will ship nearly anywhere in the world, and your shipping fees will be calculated and added to your total before purchase.

But wait, there’s one more thing we want to show you. Over on Facebook, we have started a readers and writers group called The Gold & Steel Saga’s Fantasy and Sci-Fi readers group. You can find it here. Feel free to join if you’re a reader of the series, or genre books in particular. If you’re a writer of such material, be it in published form, fan-fic, poetry, or the like, we welcome you as well. We would love to hear about your work as much as we would like to share our story with you. Come on in and check it out, we’re waiting to share with you.

Thank you for reading Gold & Steel,
Christopher Walsh, author.
